Araw ng Kagitingan: Reliving the heroes among us


The Day of Valor, also known as Araw ng Kagitingan, is a notable event in the history of the Philippines that must be significant for us, Filipinos, to commemorate theFilipino soldiers who gave their lives during World War II. This day is observed on April 9th each year to commemorate the heroism and bravery of the Filipinos who fought against the Japanese forces during the war

The Battle of Bataan was a challenging and distressing ordeal for the Filipino and American troops. The Filipinos suffered greatly from the tough conditions, shortages, and constant Japanese attacks. In spite of these obstacles, the Filipinos remained steadfast and battled with unwavering determination. The Battle of Bataan exemplified the strong resolve of the Filipino people against aggression and oppression. 

The Day of Valor is a moment to remember the Filipino soldiers' sacrifices in the war. It acts as a reminder of the bravery and resolute shown by these soldiers amidst challenges. Celebrating this day is a means for the Filipino citizens to honor the heroes who courageously protected their nation and supported the principles of liberty and self-rule. 

The impact of the Day of Valor goes beyond the historical occurrences of World War II. It acts as a symbol of the lasting bravery and strength that characterizes the Filipino population. The soldiers of Bataan continue

All in all, The Filipino people have a deep respect for the Day of Valor, considering it a day to remember and pay tribute. For us, it is not a mere commemoration or holiday. Up until now, April 9th acts as a poignant commemoration of the brave soldiers' sacrifices in the Battle of Bataan. The celebration of this day is evidence of the unwavering bravery and strength that still motivates the Filipino people. Over time, the Day of Valor continues to be a representation of pride for the nation and a motivation for upcoming generations to carry on the tradition of the Bataan heroes.

122nd High School Day

 The preparation for the 122nd High School day was a struggle, for both teachers and students. There were practice sessions for the field demonstration that required students to participate, props that are needed to be made, and class hours that were compressed in order to have enough time to practice. Although, it was all worth it when I saw that each one of us were smiling throughout the day. The Field demonstration involved the every students to perform, from grade 7 to 10. Each grade level has their own festival to perform.  In Grade 10, we performed Sinulog Festival.
